T-Shock vs Local Cryotherapy Facials

Cryotherapy T-shock facials and local cryotherapy facials are two types of facial treatments we offer at Reboot. Both use cold technology to achieve a variety of outcomes.

While both treatments can provide numerous benefits for the skin, it is important to understand the differences between the two in order to choose the best treatment for your individual needs and goals.

Similarities

Both of these services involve the use of specialized modern technology that utilize the cold to benefit the skin and underlying tissues. Both services reduce localized inflammation, like puffiness and circles around the eyes, provide benefits related to skin health and appearance, and reduce localized pain in the face and head, including headaches.

In addition, both offer a compounding benefit when done on a recurring basis over a relatively short period of time (eg. 3x local cryo facials over a week or two or 5x T-Shock facials over a few weeks).

Both are offered on our daily schedule and administered by trained practitioners. Neither of these services are available as frequently as our other service appointments, due to the limitations of staff availability, preparation, and the private area that both services share, which can only accommodate a single client at a time– so make sure to book your appointments ahead of time to ensure we’re able to serve you!

Finally, although we are focusing on the application of both of these services to the face as ‘facials’ in this article, both services are also available for other parts of the body as well. Check out the pages on our website for T-Shock and Cryo for more info.

Differences & Specialized Applications of Each Service

Cryo T-Shock Facials

Cryotherapy T-shock, also known as Cryoskin, or T-Shock for short, uses a device that delivers cold and warm temperatures through the skin. The treatment involves first cleaning and applying a gel to the skin before the cold device is gently pressed against the skin for a few minutes at a time. The cold application is followed by a phase that administers quick pulses of heat to further enhance the

effects.

With T-Shock, as opposed to local cryo, the applicator wand comes in direct contact with the skin, providing the added benefit of pressure to smooth the skin through compression and treat the skin along particular pathways on the face.

This protocol in particular is especially effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles from sun exposure and aging, as well as providing the following benefits, resulting in a more youthful look:

  • Tightens & Tones Skin

  • Reduces the appearance of cellulite

  • Stimulates collagen & elastin

  • Speeds up cellular activities and repair

  • Reduces the appearance of sunspots, fine lines, & wrinkles

  • Reduces the appearance of puffy eyes and dark circles

  • Reduces pain and inflammation

  • Improves blood circulation

  • Relaxes muscles

T-Shock is more effective than local cryo at producing these long-lasting changes in the skin due to the more advanced equipment that alternates between hot and cold and the sophisticated training our T-shock practitioners go through to use specific techniques and strokes to target a variety of intended outcomes.

T-Shock Facial Q&A

Where can I do the treatment?

Chin, neck, décolletage & face.

When can I see benefits?

Some see benefits after one session, but you may require 3-5 sessions over several weeks / months to see your best results. Once your results are achieved, you can maintain them with healthy nutrition, skincare & exercise.

Local Cryotherapy Facials

Local cryotherapy facials, also referred to as ‘Cryo Glow Facials,’ involve the application of extremely cold temperatures of nitrogen gas to the face using a cryotherapy device held approximately 12 inches away from the face. Our practicioners slowly move the stream of nitrogen gas across the face to target various zones.

Local cryo facials have the advantage of being the most effective service we offer for alleviating headaches and bruising. Local cryo is ideal for treating a specific injury or an area with pain; 5-8 minutes of local cryotherapy is comparable to hours of “icing,” and is much more powerful and efficient. As a result, this treatment helps manage the symptoms and speed up the recovery of injuries to the face and head.

The cryogenically-cooled air also activates collagen production in the deeper levels of the skin, offering several of the same benefits as T-Shock facials in a more affordable and time-efficient package. Those skin benefits include the following:

  • Reduces pain and inflammation

  • Reduces the appearance of cellulite

  • Tightens and firms the skin

  • Stimulates collagen & elastin

  • Speeds up cellular activities and repair

  • Most effective treatment in reducing pigmentation

  • Reduces the appearance of sunspots, fine lines, & wrinkles

  • Reduces the appearance of puffy eyes and dark circles

  • Improves blood circulation

  • Relaxes muscles

Local cryo facials are also administered by trained staff, but the protocol does not require advanced training or implement specific strokes and techniques like T-Shock facials do. Rather, it is a more generalized treatment spread evenly across the entire face (although if you’d like us to focus on any particular areas to deal with pain and injuries, we can focus on that).

As a result, this treatment is not as specific or effective in terms of the long-lasting aesthetic skincare benefits it provides compared to T-Shock, due to the nature of the technology and how the treatment is administered.

Pricing & Duration of Appointments

Due to the particular training and additional time required to prepare for and administer T-Shock, it is a more expensive and longer-lasting session.

T-shock facials last 30 minutes ($179), and local cryo facials last 12 mins ($70 or 1 freeze credit).
